A Family Business That Spans Generations

Don began honing his craft at an early age under the instruction of his father, Don Marcotte Sr.  As a young man, Don Sr. learned the trade at a vocational school in Pennsylvania and then returned to New England to start his first flooring store, The Linoleum Barn, in Haverhill, MA with his wife, Dorothy Crago.

Don Sr. and Dorothy owned and operated several flooring businesses over the years in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Mexico.  In 1973, Don Jr. officially joined the family business, Marcotte Flooring, in Plaistow, NH.  Known as the "Father and Son Team," Don Sr. and Jr. worked together for years, selling and installing floor coverings to homeowners and businesses across the region.

The family business moved to Keene, NH and became Princess Carpet in 1979.  While working alongside his father, Don Jr. learned the "ins and outs" of the industry and later formed his own flooring company in the 1980s.
